June 25, 2013 - University of Houston Law Center alumni Maria-Vittoria "Giugi" Carminati '08 has earned an LL.M. in Space, Cyber & Telecommunications law at the University of Nebraska.
"The University of Nebraska offers the only LL.M. in the world uniquely focused on space, cyber, and telecommunications law," Carminati said. "My masters degree covered the regulation, licensing, and liability of space activities (both government and commercial), international and domestic spectrum management, cyber crimes, cyber law, and cyber warfare, ITAR, and the regulation of satellite communications, from orbit assignment to frequency allocation."
An associate at Berg & Androphy, Carminati is the co-author of The Laws of Spaceflight: A Guidebook for New Space Lawyers. The book provides practical guidance to lawyers about the laws that govern activities in space. The publication is available through the ABA. The guidebook offers lawyers a basic overview of spaceflight, the space industry, and the legal ramifications of the industry and the problems their clients confront.
Carminati is a member of both the Aerospace and Defense Industries Committee of the ABA Section of International Law as well as the International Arbitration Committee of the ABA Section of International Law.
