Ignacio Pinto-Leon is a dual U.S.–Mexico licensed attorney. He is the director of JurisMex Corp., a consulting firm based in Houston, TX that provides legal advice in Mexican law; Mr. Pinto–Leon has worked extensively as a litigator in Mexico in matters such as criminal defenses, extradition proceedings and Amparo trials, and served as adjunct professor at the School of Law of the Universidad Panamericana in Guadalajara, Mexico; also as attorney licensed to practice in Mexico, he has worked in the United States for several years as expert in Mexican law in forum non conveniens and similar cases, and as Mexican counsel in mercantile, civil, family, labor, immigration and tax law matters.
In his role as attorney licensed to practice law in the U.S., Mr. Pinto–Leon is also the principal at Pinto–Leon Law Firm, PC in Houston, TX, where he practices U.S. immigration law serving foreign nationals and their families to come, stay, reside and avoid removal from the United States, as well as to naturalize as U.S. citizens.
Mr. Pinto–Leon has written and lectured regularly on legal topics relating primarily to Mexican law issues. He is a member of the American Bar Association—and actively involved on its General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Division—, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Mexican Bar (Barra Mexicana–Colegio de Abogados).
Mr. Pinto–Leon earned his LL.M. degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 2006, a degree as specialist in Constitutional and Amparo law from the Universidad Panamericana at Guadalajara, Mexico in 2001, and his law degree from the Universidad Panamericana at Mexico City in 1999. He is admitted to practice in all jurisdictions in Mexico, in the state of New York and in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Texas.
