University of Houston Law Center alums and fellow globetrotters took their "Passport Around the World" in hand, left their cares at home, and enjoyed an evening of fun and fundraising at the school's 37th annual Gala & Auction.
More than 525 "travelers" bid on the live and silent auction items, dined and danced and, most importantly, raised $430,000 for the Law Center.
Guests at the March event, including University of Houston System Chancellor and UH President Renu Khator, mingled among the Wonders of the World - Stonehenge, Machu Pichu, the Coliseum, and Taj Mahal.
Friendships were renewed and contacts made as Law Center supporters browsed through displays of silent auction items ranging from artwork and trips to jewelry and sports memorabilia. Live auction items were a huge hit this year, especially the wine dinner with Law Alumni Association officers Tom Hetherington '98 and Warren Harris '88 donating bottles from their private cellars and Culinaire catering the dinner. Cynthia Mabry '10 served as chair of the auction committee.
Festivities continued with dancing to the sounds of vocalist and saxophonist David Caceres and his band.
Regent Jarvis V. Hollingsworth '93 was honored during the evening for his support and commitment to the University and Law Center.
