Services Available to the Law Center Community

Access to Westlaw and Lexis is restricted to password holders. Law Center Faculty, currently enrolled UH law students, and Law Librarians have access to these resources. Use of these resources is for legal research associated with Law Center activities. Any abuse of the use policies can result in revocation of access privileges. Students with password problems or having a question about your access right please contact Leah C. McGahee (Lexis) or Sarah Williams (Westlaw). Faculty and staff please contact Library Associate Director Mon Yin Lung.

Other Legal Databases and VPN Access

The Law Library also subscribes to many other legal databases. They can be accessed on location or remote. Remote access requires proper configuration of the library's VPN client. For instructions on the setup please click here.

Printing

The Yellow Trabant, Westlaw and Lexis printers are located in the Federal Room. In order to print to the Yellow Trabant printer, the desktop computer or your laptop must be mapped correctly. For directions on how to map a network printer, click here.

Computer Use

There are seven computers at the front of the law library available for use by law students. These computers are connected to the Law Center's network. There are two other computers located in library study carrels that are connected to the Law Center's wireless network. Students can also access the Law Center's wireless network from their laptops inside the library.

Services Available to the Public

Public Access to Electronic Research Resources

The law library has five computer terminals that members of the public can use to access the library's electronic resources and for other legal research purposes. These terminals are located in front of the library's Circulation Desk. Printing service is not provided.

Photocopy Machines

Photocopying machines are available in the copy room adjacent to the library. The photocopiers charge 10 cents per page copied. These machines accept Cougar1cards, change, $1.00 and $5.00 bills. Change is not available from the Circulation or Reference desks. For instructions on adding money to your Cougar1card account click here. The copy machines are maintained by the UHLC Copy Center.
