Circulation Policies
1.
Check-out
Faculty
are always welcome to bring volumes to the circulation desk for check-out. Alternatively,
they can send their requests to their librarian liaisons, and the books can
be delivered to their suites. The circulation period for most items is 120 days
from the date of check-out, though periodicals will only circulate for 14 days.
Exceptions will apply to books in special collections (e.g. reserve, reference,
etc.), which will have circulation periods ranging from a day to 14 days. All
items removed from the library must be checked out, to provide accurate collection
information and to avoid reporting an item as missing.
2. Overdue and recall notices
As library materials are used by students as well
as by faculty, keeping the collection available
to patrons is a consistent effort. Consequently,
periodic recalls and overdue notices will be sent
to faculty, as needed. The library asks that all
faculty respond promptly to such requests, either
with a request for a renewal or an indication that
the material will be returned in X amount of time.
Renewals
3. Renewing items
Faculty may request renewals for items via phone
(3-1099), or email (sgmartin@central.uh.edu).
For
questions about Circulation Services, please contact Suzanne Gordon-Martin
(3-1099 or sgmartin@central.uh.edu).
